Parent Training Programmes

These are thirteen-week parenting programmes,
repeated
throughout the year, originally launched at the Afro-Caribbean Association. They consist of
a variety of modules including: the education system simplified, self
esteem, rights and responsibilities, drug and alcohol dependencies, raising
achievement and sign-posting. Participating parents are encouraged
to work towards accreditation. On completion of the course, parents are awarded certificates, and also invited to the Fishpool Black Achievement of the Year Award Ceremony.
- The trained facilitators are: Pauline Reynolds (ACA), Haltia Watkins
(READS), Dee Russell-Thomas (READS), Robert Crawford, Charles Campbell, Mary Sargent and Alex Smith.
- The programme was initiated by Pauline Reynolds (ACA) and has the
support of the Race Equality Foundation (formerly known as The REU), Connexions,
ACA and Fishpool (READS).
- Other programmes, also funded by the Race Equality Foundation, have been launched through the
local Seventh Day Adventist Church, and Connexions.
- The most recent programmes took place in two of our secondary schools: Brockworth Enterprise and Central Technology College. These schools made successful bids and were partly funded by READS.
