READS Family Fun Day - July 14th 2012

The sun shone on a Saturday afternoon in July … when READS provided a brilliant fun packed afternoon to celebrate our Czech and Slovak speakers in Gloucestershire.
The location was Widden Primary School: Many thanks to Tim Cooper, Head Teacher, for providing the perfect location and facilities for this event!
The afternoon began with performances from a talented young Roma dance group, whose members come from many of our primary and secondary schools. This was followed by another gifted group - a local Roma music band. The audience was enthralled by the talent!
Following on from this, a wide range of activities, provided by the READS Team entertained the families and children: tombola, face painting, mehendi, arts and crafts, parachute games, football skills, family photos, lucky dip, and more!
Then the families had a chance to chat over refreshments, and access information provided by agencies on health, safety and other matters.
There was even a fire engine, which was very popular with the children!
The families came with children from the following schools:
Primary: Widden, Kingsholm, St James, Tredworth Junior, Tredworth Infant, St Pauls, Hatherley, Linden.
Secondary: Gloucester Academy, Churchdown, Millbrook Academy, Barnwood Park, Beaufort.
Many thanks from READS to our sponsors, who made this event possible: Equalities Unit, Fire Service, Police, NHS & Skillzone and an especial thanks to Chris for the photos!
